CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT COACH

coaching for creatives in transition

MY APPROACH

I work with people in transition — feeling stuck, tackling big decisions, figuring out what comes next. I have a particular passion for working with artists and creative professionals, individuals and teams, who are shifting direction or rethinking their goals. But anyone interested in approaching their goals with curiosity, independence, and a creative mindset is welcome.

My work focuses on listening closely, asking thoughtful questions, and helping clients identify possibilities to hone in on an approach that feels right for them.

ABOUT ME

I'm a YCI-certified coach, a third-generation artist and educator, and an Emmy Award–winning documentarian and storyteller.

I've spent decades honing my skills as a listener — reflecting back, digging deep, asking powerful questions. I help clients find their own way and develop their own story. Transitions are ageless, and my training as a Certified Youth Resilience Coach applies to adults and young people alike.

My work has included directing films for network television and HBO, as well as creating programming for young people for PBS and Nickelodeon. Documentary filmmaking requires patience, curiosity, and the ability to listen deeply — sometimes over years — to understand someone's story and find the best way to tell it.

I bring that same practice to coaching.

WHAT IS COACHING

Coaching is collaborative, present-focused, and goal-oriented — emotional, creative, and practical. It's not advice or instruction. It's a process that helps you articulate what matters, sort through decisions, and take practical steps toward what comes next.

COACHING VS. THERAPY

Where therapy often focuses on healing the past, coaching is oriented toward the present — working with where you are and helping you move with intention to define your goals and make improvements. Therapy works with what's broken; coaching takes what is working and makes it better.

For me, it feels like magic when someone finds their way simply through asking just the right questions. I'm continuously amazed by how much we already know about what is best for ourselves.

She helped me move past profound blockages that for years had been an obstacle to growth in my creative and professional life, and introduced a framework of accountability to keep my ideas and progress on track. Creativity is often bound together with our emotional lives, and Jyllian is comfortable delving into those areas when necessary. Highly recommended." ‍
